A BILLIONAIRE inventor yesterday unveiled his plan for near-supersonic travel in a tube from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
PayPal founder Elon Musk revealed the ambitious scheme for the 760mph train — powered by magnets and fans — which would cost around £4billion.
Elon, who developed the Tesla electric car, claimed passengers could make the 380-mile trip in capsules in just 30 MINUTES.
But the entrepreneur, 42, claimed to be “too busy” to develop the solar-powered “hyperloop” himself.
Mr Musk said it would be faster, safer, cheaper and more efficient than a high-speed rail link being built between the cities.
He said: “Short of figuring out teleportation, which would be awesome, the only option is a tube over or under the ground.” He believes a demo would take four years.
