HERE’S Sir Bradley Wiggins’ Sports Personality of the Year trophy — chained to the bar at his local.
The Tour de France winner and Olympic gold medallist placed the award in the boozer after scooping the prestigious BBC prize.
It takes pride of place at the Original Farmers Arms in Eccleston, Lancs, where dad-of-two Wiggo — knighted in the New Year’s Honours List — is a regular.
Landlord Barry Newton said: “It sums up what a nice bloke Brad is. He walked in a few days after he won it and said, ‘There you are – keep that until after Christmas so people can look at it’. He’s a man of the people, a quiet unassuming bloke who never asks for special treatment. When he won his Olympic gold medals he brought them in a bag for the staff to look at.”
Locals and cyclists have flocked to have their photo taken with the trophy which has helped boost trade at the pub.
