LUXURY car maker Bentley has laid off its vicar just before Christmas — because he might upset non-Christian workers.
Bosses axed Rev Francis Cooke, 46, after ten years, claiming the firm needed to take a multi-faith outlook.
But he said: “My position is to help people, not just Christians.”
He has the backing of staff, who are campaigning to reinstate him at the plant in Crewe, Cheshire. More than 4,000 work there.
One employee said: “We want him back. Everyone is really angry about it. To do this just before Christmas is shocking.”
